During my speaking engagements, I keep bumping into people who have an
ambition to pursue an MBA program. Some of them are serious and some of
them are not. Upon probing further, I find that many people:
b) want to pursue an MBA because it will automagically transform them into someone very special or
c) they want to do it because they don’t want to be left behind.
The sad part was that many people who didn’t have an MBA felt that they
were at a huge disadvantage as compared to those with an MBA. Some of
them were even blaming their current situation to the lack of an MBA
degree.
Personally, I don’t buy into any of these arguments. In fact, I can’t. I don’t have an MBA degree
Over the last few weeks I did my research, talked to several people
(some with an MBA and some without) and got help from several other
people (some of who are in the “Acknowledgements” section) and finally
came out with this eBook.

A good book as always Rajesh!
Absolutely outstanding, as always Rajesh! Thank you for sharing your wisdom.
I don’t have an MBA either. I almost went for one about ten years ago. At the time I knew I wanted to eventually start a company, so I gave myself 12 months to either start a company or start b-school. I ended up starting the company and never regretted it for a second. While I wouldn’t mind taking some of the classes taught at b-school, there’s no substitute for real life.
Thank you for all your kind words and comments. I have received a number of emails too. While it may take me a while to read all of them and reply individually, I just want to let you know that I AM going to read all of them and you WILL get a reply soon.
Best,
Rajesh
An interesting material. Don’t you think to coordinate you e-book with http://www.personalmba.com initiative?
Thanks for the comment Dmitry. Personalmba.com is a cool initiative. I have not given a thought about collaboration yet. I will take another look.
Cheers,
Rajesh
I always got the impression that about 99% of MBA students would have one of the reasons a) - c) as their major motivation… which is why I was never particularly interested in a course concept that seemed to attract so many people without an imagination of themselves.
Then again, it seems plain to me that ‘entrepreneurship’ and ‘business administration’ are two completely different camps altogether.
It is a nice book. Let me know if you need help with any other ebook design .. :>

Looks very interesting, thanks.
Hi,
Well if you think you don’t need an MBA. You are wrong. Even if an MBA doesn’t get you a better job the experience transforms you. You sleep for less than 4 hours every night working on projects but you realize your potential which you can never do if you don’t go through this marvel called an MBA.
Trust me I know, I am going through one right now, and before joining the course used to think the same way as you do.
Nanit,
May be there is a mis-understanding. The title of the book is “When you can’t earn an MBA..”
It is for people who for someone reason can’t or don’t want to get an MBA. What can they do differently?
Thanks anyway
Best
Rajesh
great resource - thanks for taking the time to do this!
as someone who wants his company to (eventually) pay for my MBA, i’m going to use this to get a head start. it’s also good to know that the stuff i’m already doing (industry blog; organising and attending networking events; outside consulting etc) is the stuff i should be doing!
cheers,
Ed
Well, I’ve not yet read the entire text but it smells of a nicety. It’s interesting to know that one can still get on without an MBA. The MBA is fast becoming like a spoilt child toy in the business world. If you have it, it sort of shows you are among the kids born with silver spoons and all the other children will hope to be in your place.
But when you can obtain this fabulous (over-priced) toy, you can’t help but sulk and fret. Your ebook offers hope to the latter brand of kids. But I’d rather have the MBA than not. But just in case I can’t get it, it’s never going to be a disaster- Could be a blessing altogether instead. Well, for those kids out there gunning for b-school or any other school in the globosphere, I recommend browsing http://www.braincollege.com , a formidable and extensive directory of all universities and colleges around the world. Keep it up, Rajesh.
Nice ebook Rajesh, shame I cant resell it to my subscribers haha! Sally
